Operational Information
How we deliver the ProgramThe TCGR model has four key points of difference to any other model of education and training for Australian School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (AsbA's) in

The block (two week) rotational model. The students work (or complete work experience if unplaced) for their employer for two weeks as an apprentice/trainee. They then return to the College Campus to study their school subjects for two (2) weeks. Students study English Communication, Prevocational Maths or Maths A and a Certificate II in Business, IT and Workplace Practices. Students complete this cycle for approximately forty-one (41) weeks out of the year. Student-Apprentices attend their RTO for approximately seven (7) weeks per year studying towards the qualification for their Apprenticeship.

The Technical College values all aspects of the program that an individual is involved in and their rounded development during the senior phase of learning. The students academic, trade training and work are timetabled to ensure that there is no trade-off or "missing out" occurring.

Student's education and training has a focus on industry through a curriculum that has been developed in consultation with local industry partners to ensure students leave the Technical College with a head start on the future.

The curriculum delivery is transitioning to flexible on-line delivery. This enables students to access their curriculum from home. Students have the ability to continue their secondary education when not attending the Technical College.
The Technical College facilitates all components of the training plan for Student-Apprentices/Trainees including Employability Skills, Work Experience, Trade Training and supervision in the work-place including site inductions, Construction White Cards, Senior First Aid and CPR. The areas in which students are involved is expanding all the time with new businesses and industry hearing the great reports coming from past success stories from the College and seeking students to be involved in their companies.

How to apply
If you want a to get a start on your career and currently completing Year 10 then an Australian School-based Apprenticeship/Traineeship might be for you. Students applying for enrolment at the TCGR will have completed Year 10 with a minimum of Sound Achievements in English and Maths. Students will be required to undertake an aptitude assessment and obtain a Construction Industry White Card. Expression of Interest to Enrol packages are available from the Technical College or the Head of Department for Senior Schooling in Gladstone's State Secondary schools.
